William Douglas Commons, Ordinary Signalman (LT/JX 190633), was born in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire on December 12th 1917. He was the son of Adin Commons, a widower and Insurance Agent (who died in 1924), and Martha Commons, née Haywood.
