Richard Ernest Eastabrook, Plumber 3rd Class, P/MX 53827, was born in Portsmouth on October 25th,1911. He was the son of Thomas Samuel Eastabrook and his wife, Esther Kathleen, née Drake. Richard’s father was accidentally killed in Malta while serving in the Royal Australian Navy in 1917. Richard’s mother re-married shortly after her husband’s death and Richard was sent to an orphanage.
