George Dennis Davis, Petty Officer (P/J 99376), was born on August 9th 1903 in Kennington, London. He was adopted as a child. He enlisted in the Royal Navy in 1920, giving his occupation as “traveller”. He was awarded the Long Service and Good Conduct Medal. From 1937 to 1940, he served in the Royal New Zealand Navy. He joined HMS Dunedin on April 4th 1941.
No reference to next of kin is recorded in the Commonwealth War Graves Commission records, but in 1929 he appears to have married Jessica Montague, with whom he had two children.
