Albert Alan Hemsley, Able Seaman (PJX195425), was the son of William James Hemsley, a railway worker, and his wife Emma Louisa, née Burtenshaw. He was born on March 31st 1912, in Portslade, Sussex. He married Marjorie Elizabeth Enticott, and in 1939, the couple were living in Worthing, where Albert was working as a butcher.
