Arthur John Elliott, Acting Engine Room Artificer 4th class, P/MX 51751, was born in Portsmouth on February 4^th, 1920, the only son of John Edwin Elliott and his wife Emily, née Ashdown. Arthur’s father served in the Royal Navy from 1912 to 1945 and must have heard of his son’s death while serving in reserve in Portsmouth.
