Arrangements for this year’s service
This year’s Reunion and Memorial Service will take place on Friday 24th November at the Royal Naval Memorial, Southsea Common, and simultaneously at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire.
Members of the Dunedin Society will gather at the Royal Naval Memorial on Southsea Common at 1300 for a short service of remembrance and wreath-laying, followed by an informal gathering at the Royal Maritime Club (RMC) in Portsmouth. This year’s event is an informal meeting, with no set agenda other than the service at the Memorial, but for those who wish to remember the men of HMS Dunedin, please do come along.
If you wish to order lunch from the Victory Bar at the RMC, you can pre-order by telephoning the Club on 02392 824231, choosing the “Events”, or by emailing [email protected] You can find the Victory Bar menu here. Or, if you arrive early enough for morning coffee at the Club, you can order your lunch then.
We hope you will be able to join us to chat and share photos and memorabilia.
We haven’t planned a formal dinner, but should you wish to stay for dinner, the price for members is £15.75 for three courses and coffee.
For anyone wishing to stay the night, accommodation can be booked through the club on 02392 824231, choosing the “Accommodation” option. Be sure to mention your HMS Dunedin membership. The prices are:
Dinner, B&B and double or twin room: £129.00 (B&B only, £92.00)
Dinner, B&B and single room: £64.00 (B&B only, £50.00)
Bas Bowyer will be conducting a Memorial Service at the Dunedin Memorial at the NMA Alrewas at 1.30 pm on the 24th. November. It would be helpful if you could let Bas know whether you are intending to attend. You can reach him on 01332 207151 or on his mobile, 07858224548.
