Moss Leslie Harris, Writer (D/MX 88063) was born in London on 13th March, 1902. He was the only son of Henry Harris, a merchant, who died in 1908, and his wife Rita Rebecca, née Fligelstone, who remarried in 1910.
He lived much of his childhood and later life in Southern Africa. On ship passenger manifests, he is described as an engineer and later manager, and seems to have worked for international banking companies. His address in his will is given as c/o The Union Bank of South Africa in London. He left a substantial sum of money to his sister. According to an interview with Able Seaman Ronald Shinn (who survived the sinking) conducted at the Royal Naval barracks on 24th December 1941, Leslie Harris lost his life on one of the rafts. His date of death is given as November 26th 1941, the day before the rescue ship arrived.
